ELSA COMMOOT
What is ELSA COMMOOT?
The 5th edition of the ELSA UK COMMOOT Competition focuses on Commercial Contracts and Financial Law, offering a multi-stage challenge for ELSA members to showcase their legal
acumen. Participants engage in preliminary rounds, with the top 10 teams progressing to the
final oral rounds in London. This event sharpens legal skills in commercial and financial law. It
provides a platform for networking and professional growth, embodying a unique opportunity for law students to excel in a competitive environment.

Mooting
ELSA UK CRIMINIS Criminal Law Moot Court Competition:
2-3 March 2024, London
Criminis Moot Court Competition is simulated criminal litigation scenarios, covering everything from search and seizure to due process rights. Ten teams of top law students from universities across the United Kingdom will compete at the esteemed Inner Temple.

ELSA UK COMMOOT Commercial Law Moot Court Competition:
16-17 March, London

Commercial Law Moot Court Competition (COMMOOT), this year’s international edition focuses on Commercial Contracts with elements of Financial Law. This is a three-tier competition exclusively for ELSA members comprising the Preliminary Qualifying Round, Written Round, and the Final Oral Rounds to be held between November to March 2024. The Top 10 qualifying teams will be called to final oral rounds in London.

What are the ELSA Essay Competitions?

The ELSA Edinburgh Essay Writing Competition invites students to submit essays on
designated topics, with a length requirement of 1,500 to 2,000 words, due in March.
The competition distinguishes itself by offering each winner under each topic the
chance to have their essay published on the ELSA Edinburgh website, providing a
valuable platform for academic recognition and sharing their insights with a broader
audience.

For all talented writers interested in legal topics, the ELSA Edinburgh Essay Writing Competition
offers a unique challenge. It's a chance to expand your legal knowledge, compete, and gain
recognition for your writing skills. Winners will have their essays published on the ELSA
Edinburgh website. Topics will be available from the 11th of February, and submissions are due
by the 17th of March. To participate, send your essay to competitions.edinburgh@uk.elsa.org.
